We are eager for students to return to school, and we had hoped that today’s sunshine and warmer temperatures would make that possible tomorrow. However, approximately 65 area roads remain impacted by packed ice, and melting today is expected to refreeze overnight, creating hazardous black ice conditions.
Given those conditions, Rutherford County Schools will observe a remote learning day for students and an optional teacher workday for employees on Thursday, January 29. Remote work is authorized for eligible employees.
We are optimistic that continued improvement tomorrow afternoon will allow us to safely welcome students back to school on Friday. A decision about Friday’s schedule will be announced no later than 5:00 PM tomorrow.
Thanks, and be safe.
