Although Monday, February 20 is an optional teacher workday with no school for students on the traditional Rutherford County Schools calendar, students on the Forest City - Dunbar year round calendar DO have a regular school day on Monday.
There will be NO Young Scholars after-school program this Monday, February 20 due to staff training.
Forest City - Dunbar is participating in the Kids Heart Challenge for most of the month of February to support the American Heart Association. We had a kickoff event last Wednesday to get students excited and help them know what to do to help this worthy cause. Thank you for your support as we raise money for this worthy cause.
Kindergarten Registration for the 2023-24 school year is now open. If your child turns 5 by August 30, 2023, he/she is eligible to start kindergarten next school year. Stop by the school during regular school hours to pick up a Kindergarten Registration packet. Please spread the word to anyone you know with a child who is eligible to start kindergarten next year. Also, Kinderpalooza will be this Tuesday, February 21 from 4:00-7:00 at the ICC Foundation. This is a fun event for rising kindergarteners to learn more about kindergarten, see the teachers, and learn more about school.
Last Friday afternoon we revealed the new mascot for Forest City - Dunbar Elementary to be the Foxes! Our students and staff are very excited about our new mascot. We would like to thank our community partners for their generous donations that allowed us to purchase a t-shirt with the new Fox logo for each student and staff member. Students will be allowed to wear their new FCD Foxes shirt on Fridays along with their regular uniform pants. We will work on getting more options for clothing with our new logo on it for parents to purchase in the near future.
