PTO will host a Fall Festival THIS Thursday, October 27 from 5:00-8:00. Games and activities will take place from 5:00-7:30 followed by a Trunk or Treat in the parking lot from 7:30-8:00. Students are encouraged to wear their costumes to this event. Wristbands giving access to all activities (except vendor sales and concessions, cake walk, half and half tickets) are on sale now for $8 each. School sponsored Family Activities called Monster Math Night will be going on that same night from 5:00-6:30. Monster Math Night activities are free. We look forward to seeing you that night. There will be NO Young Scholars after school program on October 27.
We look forward to celebrating Red Ribbon Week this coming week. Red Ribbon Week is a time to focus on making good choices and being drug free. We look forward to seeing our students and staff participating in the special days. Students who participate do not have to wear uniforms, but those not participating should wear their uniform. We hope you will be creative with your outfits but we do NOT want students to wear costumes or masks to school for these special days. Below is the schedule of special days for Red Ribbon Week:
Monday - Double down against drugs. Find a partner and dress alike.
Tuesday - Drugs are tacky. Wear tacky clothing.
Wednesday - I'm a Jean-ious because I'm drug free. Wear red clothing with jeans.
Thursday - Save the day, keep drugs away. Wear hero/character clothing - NO costumes.
Friday - My team is drug free. Wear sports team clothing.
Tuesday, October 25 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will take the NC Checkin assessment in Reading and they will take the NC Checkin in Math on Thursday, October 27. NC Checkins are benchmark tests that help us to know what students have learned so far this year.
