Tomorrow, Monday, September 5 is the Labor Day Holiday. There will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow.
The Serendipity Snowball truck is scheduled to sell icees at FC-Dunbar once per month again this school year. The first icee day of this school year will be this Friday, September 9. Great news!!! All students will receive a FREE icee this month thanks to a generous donation made by Dorrien Goode of Operating 53, LLC. Thank you to Mr. Goode for your kindness. Students will be given the chance to choose their flavor icee before Friday.
The Book Fair will be set up in the library this week, September 6 - 9. Students who bring money will have the opportunity to visit the book fair to purchase items any day this week. We will also be hosting Grandparents Day for grade levels so that grandparents/friends may come and have lunch with their child and bring them to the book fair afterwards. Below is the schedule for the grade level days
Tuesday, Sept. 6- Pre-K & Kindergarten Grandparents Day
Wednesday, Sept. 7 - 1st Grade, Kennedy, Russ, Napper & Harbin’s Grandparents Day
Thursday, Sept. 8- 2nd & 3rd Grade Grandparents Day
Friday, Sept. 9- 4th & 5th Grade Grandparents Day
We will host a "Let's Make a Deal" Title I Family Night this Thursday, September 8 beginning at 5:30. Parents will meet in their child's classroom from 5:30-6:00, followed by a school-wide fun game of "Let's Make a Deal" where will you will learn about how Title I funds help our school. Students will be able to enter a drawing for giveaways. We will conclude the night with a FREE hotdog supper. You will be able to stop by the Book Fair that evening as well.
Note that there will be no Young Scholars after-school program on Thursday, Sept 8 due to this event.

Intersession Break - September 19 - October 7
The Young Scholars Intersession program will operate from Tuesday, September 20 - Friday, 30. The Young Scholars Intersession Program operates each day, including Fridays from 8:30-12:30. We will be sending home invitations for the intersession program soon.
