3rd Graders will take the Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) screener test on Tuesday, August 9. This test will be used in part to determine student eligibility to participate in the AIG program.
The Young Scholars after-school program will begin NEXT Tuesday, August 16. This is an invitation only program that serves students who need additional academic support, primarily in Reading. Students who attended the program last year and some additional students will receive an invitation to sign up this week. ALL students will have to re-register for the new year. If your child does not receive an invitation, you may contact Mark Snyder to request consideration for the program. We will be adding more students even after the program starts.
The Young Scholars program operates Mondays-Thursdays from 3:15-6:15. Students receive homework help for the first hour, Reading instruction during the second hour, and STEM, PE, or Leader in Me instruction in the third hour. Students are expected to stay for as much of the program as possible each day. Students are provided free meals at the beginning of each program day. Bus transportation is available as space allows. We look starting back our Young Scholars program on August 16.
Monday, August 15 is a Teacher Workday. There will be no school for students on Monday, August 15.
