We had an outstanding first week of school last week. Thank you to everyone who contributed to such a great start!
Beginning of the year testing starts this week with Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing for grades K-5. MAP Reading tests will be conducted on Wednesday, July 27 and MAP Math tests will be held on Thursday, July 28. Encourage your child to do his/her best on each test.
mClass Reading tests will begin to take place this week. These are state-mandated assessments to determine student performance in early literacy skills. These assessments are conducted individually for kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders.
Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) students will attend a field trip to Camp Innovate at Ellenboro Elementary Monday through Thursday (July 25-28) this week. Students will be bussed to and from Ellenboro Elementary each day of the camp. Since these students will be off campus on July 27 and 28, they will be given the MAP tests at a later date.
Please be sure to submit any beginning of the year forms to your child's teacher if you have not already done so. This includes pink information sheets, health forms, FERPA opt-out forms, and the optional iPad home usage forms with the required fee. If you have questions about any needed forms, please contact your child's teacher.
Reminder to have your child at school on time each day. Our regular school day hours are 8:15-3:15. Every minute of the instructional day is important. Please do not check your child out early unless there is a valid reason. Also, be sure to communicate with the school any time your child is absent.
Looking ahead: You will receive order forms and online ordering information soon regarding Picture Day which is schedule for NEXT Friday, August 5.
