Field Days are scheduled for this week. PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade Field Day is Monday, May 9. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Field Day is Tuesday, May 10. We are hopeful for great weather both days.
Activities both days will be traditional field day games. We will not have water activities on field day this year.
Help your child to be prepared by sending them with:
Play clothes / shoes for warm temperatures - you may want to send a change of clothes just in case
Water Bottle - we will provide water and disposable cups for those who don't have their own
Sun Screen - please apply sunscreen BEFORE coming to school, do not send sunscreen to school
Activities begin at 9:00 each day and last throughout most of the day. Parents can come watch their child participate.
Young Scholars will host a parent night this Wednesday, May 11 beginning a 5:00 pm. Young Scholars will be showcasing some of what they have learned recently and display projects they have been working on.
Thursday, May 12 will be the last day for the Young Scholars after school program for this school year. There will be a summer Young Scholars program open to any FCD student from June 16 - July 1 from 8:15-12:30 each day. We will resume the after school program in early August a few weeks after we start the new school year.
Icee Day is this Friday, May 13. Icees will be FREE for all students this time thanks to a generous donation from community partner Dorian Goode of Operating 53! If you have already pre-paid for Icees, we can give you credit for the next time we sell Icees or can refund your money. Keep in mind that this will be the last Icee day for the current school year.
Looking ahead to next week, we will host a school-wide Parent Night NEXT Thursday, May 19 from 5:00-7:00 pm. We will have five information sessions for parents to rotate through beginning at 5:00 covering the topics of Attendance Guidelines, Uniforms, Behavior Expectations, the Leader in Me, and how to help your child be a better reader. Each session will last about 15 minutes. FC-Dunbar students will be able to go to other activities so that parents can focus on the information being shared with them. At the completion of all presentations, families will be invited to the cafeteria for FREE pizza, cookies, and drinks.
Kindergarten Registration for the 2022-23 school year is open. Children who turn 5 years old on or before August 31, 2022 are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for next school year. Parents and guardians can stop by the school during regular school hours to pick up a kindergarten registration packet.
