This week we celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday with Read Across America week. There will be a theme each day with an opportunity to dress up.
Monday - Feb 28 - "Cat in the Hat Day" - Wear your favorite hat or wear red and white
Tuesday - March 1 - "Thing 1 and Thing 2" Day - Choose a friend and dress as twins
Wednesday - March 2 - "I Am Not Going to Get Up Today" - Wear pajamas
Thursday - March 3 - "Fox in Socks" day - Wear crazy socks
Friday - March 4 - Book Character Day - Dress as your favorite book character
We will have a Book Character Parade at 1:30 on Friday at the walking track in front of the school. Parents are invited to attend.
The library will host a Book Fair this week (Feb 28 - Mar 4). Students who bring money will have the opportunity any day this week to purchase items from the Book Fair. Additionally, we are inviting grandparents to eat lunch with your child then take your grandchild to the Book Fair. Grandparents are invited to each lunch in the cafeteria with their grandchild. There is a designated day for each grade level that can be found on the flyer attached to this announcement list or on our Facebook and Dojo pages.
FC-Dunbar will hold a Family Event entitled "Creating Happy Kids" on Thursday, March 3 from 5:30-7:00. Students and parents will be able to participate in a variety of activities and will gain research-based strategies to improve students' coping skills, brain health, and social-emotional resilience. Activities include Bingo for Books, Yoga, canvas painting, gratitude focused activities, games and movement. The Book Fair will also be open during this event.
There will be NO Young Scholars this Thursday, March 3 due to the Family Event that evening.
Mark your calendars: FC-Dunbar's Spring Intersession break will be Tuesday, March 15 - Monday, April 4. There will be no regular school during these dates. However, we will have the Young Scholars Intersession program from Wednesday, March 16 - Friday, March 25 from 8:30-12:30 each day. More information will be shared soon about the Young Scholars Intersession program.
Kindergarten Registration for the 2022-23 school year is open. Children who turn 5 years old on or before August 31, 2022 are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for next school year. Parents and guardians can stop by the school during regular school hours to pick up a kindergarten registration packet.
