Announcements August 9 - 13, 2021

Beginning Monday, August 9, 2021, face coverings are optional for students, employees, and visitors to all Rutherford County Schools facilities, both indoors and outdoors. However, consistent with a federal order issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) on January 29, 2021, face coverings are still required for all occupants of white and yellow school buses, including passengers, drivers, and other occupants.

As you decide whether or not your child should wear a face covering at school, please note that local, state, and national public health officials continue to recommend face coverings in schools and have relaxed the quarantine requirements schools must follow in the event of a COVID-19 exposure in the school setting. Unlike last year, students who are exposed to COVID-19 at school, but who wore a face covering or were fully vaccinated at the time of the exposure, are no longer required to quarantine.

Reminder that students will again have the opportunity to take an assigned iPad home this year.  The iPad can be used to access electronic learning and homework, as well as extended learning activities through apps and other online resources.  Different this year is that a $20 technology fee is required per child.  This fee can be paid in a $10 payment per semester. Students who do not pay the technology fee will be day users only. Families with financial hardships may request a fee waiver from the school’s principal.  This fee should be paid no later than Monday, August 9.
