Rutherford County Schools has made a survey available to the community to gather their feedback regarding calendar options for 2021-22. These options include a "year round" calendar that meets the requirements defined by the state and two traditional calendar models.
Forest City - Dunbar Elementary intends to return to the "year round" calendar model for 2021-22 no matter which calendar is chosen for all other schools in Rutherford County Schools.
This continues our tradition of serving our students on a "year round" learning model since 2014. Our current break from a "year round" calendar this year was primarily due to the uncertainties brought about by COVID-19.
Be aware that we must follow a calendar model that adheres to the defined "year-round" calendar in state law. The proposed "year round" calendar follows the guidelines listed below. While this may be adjusted slightly in its final form, it must follow a pattern of 45 days of learning per 9 week grading period, followed by a 3-week break for students and staff.
