Announcements December 14 - 18, 2020

Due to an increase in the number of school employees quarantined under the guidelines from the NC Department of Health and Human Services, Rutherford Count Schools has reached a critical point where school operations are simply no longer sustainable under our current delivery model. The Rutherford County Board of Education approved the following plan to modify school operations in response to those conditions:

• All elementary schools will temporarily transition to Plan C for remote learning only from Monday, December 14, until Tuesday, January 19. All elementary schools will reopen for hybrid learning under Plan B on Tuesday, January 19.

Key points to remember for students during Remote Learning are that attendance and grades will continue to be taken for each student.  In order for students to be counted present during Remote Learning, there must be a contact made with the teacher each day (Zoom, text, phone call, email) OR the daily assignments must be submitted for each day.

Student work will be graded for accuracy and completion for each assignment given.  Reminder that the 3rd grading period ends on Tuesday, December 22.  Assignments completed between January 6 and January 15 will count for the 4th grading period.

Weekly assignments will be available through Canvas by Friday at 4:00 pm each week.  Those completed assignments are due to be submitted no later than the Sunday at midnight following that week.  Stay connected during Remote Learning through Canvas and Class Dojo.

If you have limited WiFi access, you may come to the parking lot of any Rutherford County Schools parking lot to get free WiFi access.

Another Parent Survey will be made available this week December 14-18 for parents to indicate which learning track you would like for your child to be on once we return to Plan B - Hybrid Learning on January 19.  You may decide for your child to attend school Face-to-Face 2 days per week under this plan OR continue to participate in Remote Only instruction.  We ask that a survey be submitted for EVERY child, even if you responded to the most recent survey or if you want them to remain on the same track.

We will continue to participate in our "12 Days of Christmas" spirit days.  Each school day between December 7  and December 22 has a different themed day for students and staff to dress.  Although students will not be learning face-to-face during the remainder of this time, we hope they will participate in dressing up during their Zoom lessons.  Additionally, we ask that you submit pictures of students dressed in their outfits for each day so we can share them on Facebook.  You may submit photos to the teachers through Class Dojo.

Look for the list of themed days and daily reminders on our school Facebook page or Class Dojo.  Monday, December 14 is "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" day.  Wear snowflakes, snowmen, or white and blue.
