Announcements February 27 - March 3, 2023

We celebrate Dr. Suess's bithday this week with our annual Read Across America special days.  Below are the themes of each day.  
Monday February 27 -  "Llama, Llama Red Pajama". Wear your pajamas to school.  Be sure to wear regular shoes - no bedroom slippers.
Tuesday February 28 - "Fox in Socks" Wear your crazy socks.  Students should wear their uniforms this day.
Wednesday March 1 - "Someone Builds the Dream" Wear your Forest City - Dunbar gear (shirts, hoodies)
Thursday, March 2 - "Oh The Places You Will Go". Dress in the outfit of the career or job you want to have when you grow up.
Friday March 3 "Curious George at the Parade" - Dress as a book character for the Book Character Parade at 1:30 on Friday.  Listen for the theme / book that your classroom chooses to dress as.
 
Parents are invited to come see our Book Character Parade at 1:30 on Friday, March 3 at the walking track.
 
The Book Fair will be open all week this week.  Students who bring money will be allowed to go to the book fair to make purchases.  We are hosting Grandparents Days this week.  Grandparents (or parents) are invited to come eat lunch with your child then stop by the library to see what is available at the Book Fair.  The schedule for Grandparents Days and lunch times are below.  
 
Monday February 27 -  PreK (11:00-11:25) and Kindergarten (11:15-11:40)
Tuesday February 28 -  1st Grade  (10:45-11:10)
Wednesday March 1 - 2nd Grade (10:45-11:30)- Russ, Kennedy, Willis, Nappers classes (12:05-12:30)
Thursday, March 2 - 3rd Grade (11:45-12:25)
Friday March 3 4th (11:15-11:55) and 5th Grades (12:15-12:55)
 
FC-Dunbar will host a World Cultures Family Night this Tuesday, February 28 from 5:00-7:00.  Come to learn about countries and cultures from around the world.  There will be crafts, prizes, and performances.  Food trucks will be here selling food from various countries.
 
Due to the World Cultures Family Night, there will be NO Young Scholars this Tuesday, February 28.
 
Young Scholars students were given invitations to attend the Young Scholars Spring Intersession Program which will be Tuesday, March 14 to Friday, March 24 from 8:30-12:30 each day.  Students will be served free breakfast and lunch each day.  They will receive tutoring in reading, STEM, PE, and other activities.  If your child is not in the Young Scholars after school program, but you would like for them to attend the intersession program, please contact the school office to request an enrollment form.
 
 
 
Looking ahead:
 
Spring Pictures will be next Thursday, March 9.  Spring pictures are prepay only, which means only students whose parents pay by March 9 will have their pictures made.  Students who have their pictures made can wear an outfit other than their uniform.
 
Spring Intersession Break will be March 13 - March 31.  There will be no regular school for students on these dates.
